Speaker Kits: POINT LINE

The name Point Line is shorthand for the core engineering philosophy behind these new speakers:

Point - coherent, point-source behavior afforded by the use of small, closely spaced drivers in small (under one cubic foot) form factors that make them a practical addition to any environment.
Line - linear response with predictable dispersion to work equally well in two channel or multi-channel environments and a linear progression in size and function, allowing a mix and match approach based on room parameters.

The Point Line is designed around a new wool & pulp 5.25" woofer with a patented voice coil design that is large for good power handling, while still providing delicate midrange which is the hallmark of a great bookshelf speaker. Complimenting the new woofer is a 1" soft dome tweeter designed with broad dispersion and the solid dynamics Speakerlab has always been known for. Each model will have a crossover tailored to optimize the drivers in each enclosure.

Point1 (April 2010)
A rethinking of our most popular speaker ever, the new Point1 will be a small (.1 cubic feet, get it??) sealed box two way with the dynamics and power handling of a much larger speaker.

Point25 (May 2010)
For those ported fans out there, the Point25 is the ported cousin of the Point1, providing a bit more bass extension and a little more efficiency, in a little bigger box (.25 cubic feet, seems there is a theme here...).

Point2C (May 2010)
Recognizing the desire for great theater in a small package, the Point2C is the companion center channel for the Point Line, with some unique tricks to create a great sound stage out of a low profile horizontal design.

Point2T (June 2010)
Using dual woofers, the Point2T is a sealed box mini-tower with a lot of punch. Like its little brother the Point1, the Point2T is designed for broad, even dispersion that works well in well damped or acoustically treated spaces.

Point5T (June 2010)
Using dual woofers, the Point5T is the ported version of the Point2T mini-tower, adding extended bass and efficiency. Like the Point2T, the Point5T is designed for broad, even dispersion that works well in well damped or acoustically treated spaces.

Point2D (June 2010)
Looking like the Point2C but designed to stand upright, the Point2D is a mini-tower with controlled vertical dispersion, optimized for rooms with hard surfaces.

Point5D (July 2010)
(I am sure you can guess, but just for thoroughness...). This is the ported version of the Point2D, providing extended bass and efficiency in a controlled dispersion mini-tower.

BassPoint3 and BassPoint45 (May 2010)
The first two in a series of companion bass extension woofers to compliment the Point Line, each uses an 8" woofer with a low pass crossover designed to seamlessly integrate with the natural bass rolloff of its companion. The BassPoint3 is a sealed box matched to the Point1, the BassPoint45 is ported, matched to the Point25.

The Point Line - accurate, coherent, simple designs that outperform their completion and are simple and fun to build!
